How to expose the most used terms during an event, in a digital, collaborative and inspiring work for the participants?

Design

Dassault Système commissioned Bright to produce an artistic creation for its top leaders event, which was linked to the terms most frequently used at the event. At the end of these days, four semantic fields emerged, which are aesthetically represented in the creation. In the creation, the number of occurrences linked to each semantic had an influence on the size of the forms linked to these fields and when these fields were linked together, the forms mixed in an aesthetic and choreographed way. The overall number of terms used was also exposed.

Concept

Definition of procedural dynamics

We wanted to ensure that the semantic fields emanating from the creation represent a data landscape. Also, geological aesthetics imposed itself.

After having thought about the universe, we have modelled them in the form of a real landscape whose strata expose the most used masses of words. The more a semantic field is used, the more it is present in the landscape.

In order to be in phase with the different parties involved in the project, we have produced the first renderings with the aim of exposing the dynamics of these masses in space, the way in which they make the landscape progress in a sensitive way, as well as the way in which they expose the volumes of data.

Data storytelling

The semantic fields are displayed according to the rules set out in the video below:

Data capture and processing

During the event, we retrieved the terms most used by the speakers and lecturers. The identification of the terms was facilitated by Google Cloud Voice, a tool that allowed us to quickly have the words spoken during the three days of the event without having to type them.

The analysis of semantic & lexical fields has been done thanks to Open NLP.

Semantic fields

Finally, four semantic fields emerged: Human, Experience, Life, Earth.

With the help of the occurrences of these terms as well as the words that are lexically related to them, we were able to reconstruct a "lexical frieze", which shows the distribution of these semantic fields throughout the three days.

These are represented by a counter that progresses in User Interface, throughout the creation.
